Uzoma "Uzo" Albert O. Graphic Designer I graduated from Indiana University in May 2013 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Design and creative arts are some of the few things I have a passion for. Design-wise I enjoy using Illustrator the most. Hence, it's my strong suit. My interests include marketing, perusing inspirational design images on Behance.net. Socially: playing soccer, hiking, movies, Coldplay, hanging out with friends etc. |
BACKGROUNDAfter Uzoma's (prounced oo-ZOR-MAH) really short and glorious fictional political career. He decided to escape the fickle weather of the state of Indiana for Sunny San Diego, California to focus on his day career of being a Super hero Graphic Designer.
He has been a designer for 7 years now and started his freelance crusade in 2013. He has had the pleasure and the pain of working with corporations, start-ups, local businesses, individuals as well as Not-For-Profit Organizations. He views design as a process of fulfilling dreams, finding a solution and making a visual connection. For this to happen he is inspired by witnessing the complimentary relationship between aesthetic and practical design all around him.

Letter of Recommendation
To whom it may concern: As Director of Marketing and Communications at Indiana Stamp Co., Inc., I had the pleasure of being Uzoma Albert’s internship supervisor during the 2012 spring semester while he was a student at IPFW. Uzoma was hired to assist me in creating websites for our company. I was initially very impressed with his portfolio, and the decision was made to hire him despite his lack of experience with web design. My confidence in his ability to learn a new software program in order to perform his tasks was not unfounded. He was able to start producing simple landing pages and micro sites for us very quickly. In addition to being a quick learner, Uzoma was easy to work with. He was friendly and courteous, and able to establish a good rapport with all employees, not just those with whom he worked alongside directly. He was confident in expressing his opinions about our projects, but able to listen when those opinions were different from his own. During the course of the semester, he learned how to balance aesthetics and design elements with the clients tastes and requests (myself being the client, in this case, as he was designing the websites to my specifications). This communication skill is a fundamental lesson for all young employees to learn, but is crucial to becoming a successful designer in particular. It is my belief that as Uzoma continues to develop his design skills and the soft skills of communication and organization that he will be a valuable asset to any employer in the future.
